Ruwad Muscat International School has developed since its establishment in 2012 to become an international school providing an international curriculum from Kindergarten to Grade 12. The school welcomed its first students during the 2013–2014 academic year starting with Kindergarten to Grade 4. 

The school added new academic phases over the following years opening its secondary school in 2018 and becoming an IB Continuum World School from Kindergarten to Grade 12 in 2021. International Baccalaureate curriculum

Ruwad Muscat International School offers three International Baccalaureate programmes:

Primary Years Programme

The IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) is offered from Kindergarten to Grade 6. This stage focuses on inquiry and interdisciplinary learning which encourages students to develop curiosity and take an active role in their education by exploring concepts.

Middle Years Programme

IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) covers Grades 7 through 10. This level of education develops academic knowledge through interdisciplinary learning by encouraging independent thinking, communication, research and personal development.

Diploma Programme

IB Diploma Programme (DP) is offered for Grades 11 and 12 and provides a rigorous pre university course of study to prepare students for higher education and international university opportunities

In addition to the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, the school also offers an Oman Ministry of Education approved General Education Diploma pathway for senior students.

Academic history

Ruwad Muscat International School has an interesting academic history.

The school was formally established in 2012 and was accredited by the Alberta Government in the 2016–2017 academic year. In 2018, the school opened its secondary school section. In 2021, the school became the first IB Continuum school in Muscat providing PYP, MYP and DP from Kindergarten to Grade 12. 

The school formed an educational partnership with the UK based Ellesmere College in 2023 to enhance its international outlook.
